I've been listening to rock, pop and country radio for nearly 70 years,. And that's local and otherwise--even before there were cellphones and the Web, the old '60s Fords had great radios, and on the road at night I could dial in Mexico, Canada, WBZ Boston, and a host of others. Also, like my father and brothers before me, I did some radio myself.
The reason I tell you that is that so you know I'm not just blowing smoke when I say WNAS is consistently one of the half-dozen most interesting radio stations in North America.
It's not just the diversity (though that's wonderfully refreshing in the age of big franchise radio chains that are glued to an ironclad format and a dumbed-down playlist. It's also the deep album tracks I hear NOwhere else. Who'd've thunk that at my age I'd be learning great rock 'n' roll songs I'd never heard before? ? Nice going.
.
Nice going all the way around. Long may you wave, because you're the station I keep coming bacvk to when everyone else is boring my ass off.
